My new obsession with kitties + a video you need to see

This was right after we got the kittens–they have grown so much since then!
I can’t get enough of this cute face.
Pretty sure she’s contemplating if she has to pee badly enough to fight the cold breeze.

Ya’ll, I’m a dog lover. I know, I know. You might have just read the title of my post over again, wondering if you misread the title initially. But no… I’m talking about my love for dogs in a post about cats. Is that too much irony for one post? Maybe.

Daily milk results in full milk bellies. 😉

But what can I say? All I’ve ever experienced before was dogs. And dogs are just so… doggy? Cuddly? Fluffy? Kissy? All I know is that my newfound love for cats will never be quite as strong as my love for dogs. Especially my Bix-man. However, that being said, I’m falling in love with cats.

Lassie loves posing for pictures!

My friend Catelyn’s family is in posession of a very fertile female cat who’s had two batches of kittens in just a few months. After Teddy (our first cat) had a little incident with the cow that– unfortunately–turned out to be fatal, we were in luck when we found out that Teddy’s mom was pregnant again. And thus, Reep and Lassie’s story began.

She’s about to pounce my dangling camera strap, no doubt about it.
And can we talk about how amazing it is that you don’t have to bathe cats!

So our family adopted two adorable girl kitties after much debate over what kittens were the cutest, what gender we prefered, how many we were adopting, and so on. But we eventually settled for these two rascals after falling in love with Lassie’s sweet half-orange face. And, of course, Reep came with the deal, too, because she was the only other girl in the litter.

Her evil eye and sleepy eyes look very similar. I usually can’t tell if she just woke up from a nap or if she’s planning to attack and kill a leaf.
She’s watching the chicken scurry around in the field below.

They’re barn cats, but don’t worry, they’re still rather spoiled. They’re friendly and love attention. They’ll  never say no to a bowl of fresh squeezed, full-fat milk every morning (I know–we have such cliche barn cats).

We call them Reep and Lassie. But their full names are Reepicheep (from the Chronicles of Narnia, of course) and Laissez-faire (a capitalist economic principle; when the economy takes care of itself, not unlike a barn cat).

Welcome to the farm, Reep and Lassie!

EXCITING NEWS I COULDN’T WAIT TO TELL YOU…

Also, I have a youtube channel! And there’s already a “pilot episode” for your viewing pleasure. And if you’d subscribe I’d be happier than a cat drinking warm milk!

CLICK HERE TO WATCH MY PILOT EPISODE

(I’ll be posting a more formal announcement in the next few days. But I couldn’t wait any longer to tell someone.)

Are you more a cat person or a dog person? Or maybe you have trouble deciding (like someone I might know)?

  1. The cats are so adorable!!!!!!!!! I love cats and I’m a cat person. Me and my mom want a cat and my dad wants a dog and that’s why we will never have a pet. XD

  2. They are so cute, and I love their names! I love both cats and dogs:) We have a beagle named Sophie currently, but one day when I have my own pets and I’m in charge of naming them (lol), I’m pretty sure that all of their names will be from Harry Potter and Narnia. XD

    • Thanks, Allison!! At first I wasn’t crazy about the name Reep just because its a boyish name. But once I thought of the fact that Reep is a mouse in The Chronicle of Narnia and our kitties eat mice, I knew it was a perfect name ;). And thanks for subscribing to my youtube channel, I’m looking forward to sharing my life with my blog followers in video :).

      • Ha ha, true. I thought Reep was a boy name at first but it’s awfully cute. 🙂 And you’re welcome! I watched your first video and it was so neat! Your video clips are just as beautiful as your photography.

    • They really are spoiled. We only give them one bowl of milk in the morning and all day they have giant, full stomachs ;). (And if they do get hungry during the day they just catch a mouse xD.)

  8. Aww, your kittens are so cute! Great pictures, by the way. 🙂
I did watch your YouTube, and I will future ones too, but I didn’t subscribe because I don’t have an account. I look forward to more videos, though!
I’m definitely more of a dog person. In my experience dogs are much more friendly and lovable. But cats are good too. 🙂
