ATC trade {{ Details / Rules }}

I’ll tell you guys the truth–I’ve been dreading this post for a over month now.

Writing out the rules/details of the Artist Trading Card (ATC) trade. I’m having such a hard time with it because it’s important I get everything down, because I can’t miss a detail…

But it’s gonna be such a blast, it’s worth all the effort!

{{ Rules }}

If you’re going to participate in this ATC trade, you have to read and obey these rules…

  • You MUST have your parent’s permission. Guys, I cannot stress this enough. Please make sure to tell your parents exactly what this is and that you will need to tell me your address and you will be using some stamps to send me the ATCs. In fact, just to be sure that no one gives out their address to me without their parent’s approval, my parents have asked that everyone who participates prints out a permission slip, has a parent or guardian sign it, and mail it in with your ATCs that you are trading.

The permission slip:

  • You cannot share any personal information with another participant. If you talk about anything personal like your address, phone number, or even the state you live in, in a comment, it will be deleted immediately.
  • If you do not want to trade with a person who has asked you to trade, I suggest you reply with this comment, “Your request to trade is very flattering, but no thank you.” If you say anything even slightly rude or unkind in the comments, your comment will not be approved.
  • The ATCs you submit MUST be made by you.
  • You cannot put any personal information on the back of your card. All it should say is your first name, the title of the card, and the name of who you traded it with. (Please label it “TO: {name},” using the profile name of who you’re trading with. This is really for my benefit, so I make sure I’m sending the right cards to the right people) You can also include the date you made it, if you’d like. (I like putting the date on my ATCs.) Oh, and if you have a blog, you can put the link on the back also.
  • The ATCs must be 2.5″ by 3.5″ and made with pride. Please don’t trade any ATC that you wouldn’t be excited to receive.

{{ How it works }}

  • If this trial run is successful, I’ll have categories for each future trade, like “Food” or “Animals.” And you’ll make an ATC (or find one you’ve already made) that goes with the category. (For this first trade, you may trade any ATC you would like.)
  • You will email me the pictures of the ATCs you would like to trade. (If you don’t have an email, you may use your parent’s or a sibling’s.)  But maximum 3 cards per trade. (Please give each picture a title before sending it to me. Title each picture the same name as each ATC name.)
  • I will post them all in a  blog post, right here on Flourishing By Restful Falls, on MAY 14th or 15th.
  • Once the trade closes on MAY 22nd, if you’ve made a trade agreement with others in the comments section (make sure you don’t trade off a card twice), you’ll send the ATC(s) to me so that I receive them no later than MAY 29th. (ONLY SEND ME THE ONES YOU’VE SUCCESSFULLY TRADED.) On the back of each ATC you trade, write the name of the person who will be receiving your ATC–their profile name. (This is important; it’ll make my job a whole lot easier.) In your envelope, with your ATC(s), you’ll also include a self-addressed, stamped envelope, which I will use to mail you the ATC(s) you earned in the trade (along with your signed permission slip). For your name on your envelope, please use your profile name, so I can easily match the ATCs to the correct envelopes. (You can also write your real name on the envelope too, if you don’t want to confuse your postal carrier. 🙂 )
  • On or around JUNE 6th, I’ll send the right cards off to the right people.

{{ The Trial Trade }}

The first trade, I actually won’t have a category… since this is a trial run, you might say. So that means you can submit any Artist Trading Card(s) you’ve made that you would like to put up to trade. (They can be a pattern, a quote, a drawing, etc. You can check out SwapShop’s YouTube videos for inspiration if you’d like.)

You can email all the pictures of your ATCs to ATCkid(at)live(dot)com. (Remember, maximum of three.) The deadline to send your pictures in is MAY 13th.

Once the pictures are all posted, the weekend of MAY 14-15th, you’ll have one week to finalize your trades. If you want someone’s card, you’ll comment at the bottom of the post and say something like, “Hayley, would you like to trade your ‘cow nose’ ATC for my ‘flower’ ATC?” Or you can say “Hayley, would you like to trade your ‘cow nose’ ATC for any of mine?”

You will, of course, have to scroll through the comments pretty regularly to see if anyone has asked you for a trade. If someone does ask you to trade, please reply directly to their comment (instead of making a new comment.)

Once you’ve agreed to a trade, I will label both ATCs as “ALREADY TRADED.” So if you see an ATC you love but notice those words it, please do NOT request a trade for it. There will be too many comments to sort through already, without adding unnecessary ones about wanting to trade for ATCs that are already spoken for.

{{ TO RECAP }}

Once the trade ends, on MAY 22nd, you must have your ATCs in to me by MAY 29th. In your envelope you must include: your ATCs, labeled “TO: {name}” with the profile name of who it is being traded to. Make sure you have NO personal information, such as your last name or address, written on them. And make sure your signed permission slip, and a self-addressed return envelope, are both included. If any one of these rules aren’t followed or any of these things aren’t included, I will not be able to complete your trades.

Keep in mind, folks, this is a trial run. That means I’m “testing the waters,” to see if this is possible or just too complicated. If you’d like to see more trades in the future, please make sure you re-read this post and follow all the rules. Make sure you make high-quality ATCs, and make sure you keep all your comments nice, even if you choose to not do a trade that someone requests. Then it will be more fun for everyone!

If you have any questions, ask them in the comments, and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

Are you going to participate in the ATC trade?

♥Hayley

P.S. If you love ATCs, make sure you follow along with ArtLab. Allison and I post new inspiration every week! And you should definitely check out Allison’s most recent inspiration, it sure is bright and colorful ;).

    AH!
    I AM. Well, I’m almost CERTAIN I am going to. 🙂 Because we’re already penpals and stuff. 😉 SO…
    This is what I do to start with, right? I just get pictures of up to three of my ATCs and email it to you. 🙂
    You don’t send the permission slip with the ATC to the person who’s receiving it, do you? 😀
    I’d be delighted to get anyone’s ATC. 🙂 As long as the picture was not of a subject I didn’t like or something. 😛
    Okay, I’m gonna show my mom the permission slip, then I’m going to make some ATCs! WOO HOO.

    OHHHHH YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!! I’m SO excited for this, Hayley, if you can’t already tell. XD I think it’s going to be super-duper neat to be able to trade with other bloggers and people that live far away from you. WOW I CAN’T WAIT!!! XD Aww, it’s too bad you had to dread this post. 😦 But I think you did a good job of explaining! I REALLY hope this works! I have just one teeny-tiny question: Is it okay that I write my blog address on the back of my ATC? (I think Megan and Loren at least also do this.) I hope that’s okay! GAAAAAAHHHHH! I will DEFINITELY link to your post in my next post! Okay, I will stop hurling all-caps words and exclamation points at you now. XD 😉 Thanks again SO MUCH for doing this, Hayley! (Oops, I did it again. XD )

    Oh, oops! I didn’t see that you already said it was fine to put your blog address on the back. 😉 That’s a relief, because all of mine that I already made are like that. 🙂 YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!

    Eeeeek!! I AM SOOO EXCITED!! I still have to ask my mom though. 😉 I just have one question; if you do another trade, will we have to send a new permission slip each time?

    I really want to do this, but I need to ask my mom. My dad is ok with it, but I don’t know if my mom will let me. Also, do the ATC cards have to be that precise measurement?

    I thought about it for a while, and I decided that I want to do this! I made 2 ATCs today, and they’re pretty fun to make. I hope they’re interesting enough, though(I’m just doing black and white). Anyway, so do I take pictures of the ATCs I want to trade and then email them to you before May 13th?
